नूनमापूर्यमाणायाः सरय्वा वधते रयः।
मां समीक्ष्य समायान्तमयोध्याया इव स्वनः॥ ॥४-२८-५६॥
Nūnamāpūryamāṇāyāḥ sarayvā vadhate rayaḥ। Māṃ samīkṣya samāyāntamayodhyāyā iva svanaḥ॥ ॥4-28-56॥
Translation
Surely, the speed and roar of the swelling Sarayu river must be increasing; resembling the joyous uproar of Ayodhya upon seeing me return.
हिंदी अनुवाद
निश्चय ही जल से भर रही सरयू नदी का वेग और शोर बढ़ गया होगा। वह शोर ऐसा होगा जैसे मेरे लौटने पर मुझे देखकर अयोध्या की जनता का हर्षनाद (शोर) हो।
English Commentary
A poignant moment of nostalgia. Rama imagines the river Sarayu, the lifeline of his capital, swelling with monsoon rain. He compares the roaring sound of the rushing river (rayaḥ) to the hypothetical roar of the crowds (svanaḥ) in Ayodhya cheering his return. This reveals Rama's deep subconscious longing for home and the validation of his people, linking the sounds of the wild forest to the memories of civilization.

यह एक अत्यंत भावुक श्लोक है। सरयू नदी के उफान की गर्जना राम को उस काल्पनिक भविष्य की याद दिलाती है जब वे वनवास पूरा करके लौटेंगे। नदी का शोर उन्हें स्वागत करती हुई प्रजा के शोर जैसा लगता है। यह उपमा राम की घर वापसी की तीव्र इच्छा (nostalgia) और अपने नगर के प्रति उनके प्रेम को उजागर करती है।
