यो हि काल व्यतीतेषु मित्र कार्येषु वर्तते ।
स कृत्वा महतो अपि अर्थान् न मित्रार्थेन युज्यते ॥ ॥४-२९-१४॥
Yo hi kāla vyatīteṣu mitra kāryeṣu vartate |
Sa kṛtvā mahato api arthān na mitrārthena yujyate ॥4-29-14॥
Translation
"For he who engages in a friend's tasks after the [appropriate] time has passed, even if he accomplishes great things, does not truly connect with the friend's purpose (the merit is lost)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"जो व्यक्ति समय बीत जाने पर मित्र के कार्यों में प्रवृत्त होता है, वह (चाहे) महान कार्यों को भी क्यों न कर ले, (परंतु) वह मित्र के (असली) प्रयोजन से नहीं जुड़ पाता (उसका कार्य व्यर्थ हो जाता है)।"
English Commentary
Hanuman emphasizes the critical nature of timeliness. In strategic alliances and rescue missions, timing is everything. He argues that if the opportune moment passes (Kala vyatiteshu), even a magnificent subsequent effort becomes irrelevant. If Sita is lost due to delay, no amount of later valor will matter. The phrase Na mitrarthena yujyate implies that delayed action disconnects from the core purpose of the friendship. It renders the alliance hollow. This serves to urge Sugriva that his delay is actively devaluing his future efforts.

समय का महत्व पुनः रेखांकित किया गया है। राजनीति और युद्ध में 'टाइमिंग' ही सब कुछ है। हनुमान जी कहते हैं कि यदि सही समय निकल गया, तो बाद में किया गया बड़ा सा बड़ा उपकार भी व्यर्थ है। यदि सीता को खोजने में बहुत देर हो गई, तो वानर सेना की वीरता का कोई अर्थ नहीं रह जाएगा। 'न मित्रार्थेन युज्यते' का भाव है कि वह कार्य मित्र के उद्देश्य को सिद्ध नहीं कर पाता। यह सुग्रीव के आलस्य पर सीधा प्रहार है कि विलंब स्वयं में एक असफलता है।
