निवृत्तकार्यं सिद्धार्थं प्रमदाभिरतं सदा।
प्राप्तवन्तमभिप्रेतान् सर्वानेव मनोरथान्॥ ॥४-२९-३॥
Nivṛttakāryaṃ siddhārthaṃ pramadābhirataṃ sadā। Prāptavantamabhipretān sarvāneva manorathān॥ ॥4-29-3॥
Translation
His own tasks were completed, his goals achieved, and he was constantly delighting in women. He had obtained all the desires he had wished for.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उनका (अपना) कार्य पूरा हो चुका है, वे सफल (सिद्धार्थ) हैं, और सदा स्त्रियों (प्रमदा) के साथ रमण कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने अपने मन के सभी इच्छित मनोरथों को प्राप्त कर लिया है।
English Commentary
Sugriva acts as one who has crossed the finish line. He is nivṛttakārya (one whose job is done) and siddhārtha (successful). Having achieved all his personal desires (sarvāneva manorathān), he has no personal motivation left to act. He is constantly distracted by pleasure (pramadābhirataṃ). This complacency is dangerous because the alliance was based on mutual aid, and only one half of the deal has been fulfilled.

यह श्लोक सुग्रीव की आत्म-संतोषिता (complacency) को दर्शाता है। उनका मुख्य शत्रु (बाली) मारा गया और राज्य मिल गया—इसलिए वे 'निवृत्तकार्य' (जिसका काम खत्म हो गया हो) जैसा व्यवहार कर रहे हैं। वे भूल गए हैं कि राम का कार्य अभी बाकी है। 'प्रमदाभिरतं' (स्त्रियों में आसक्त) होना राजा के पतन का कारण बन सकता है, यह चिंता हनुमान को है।
