हितम् तथ्यम् च पथ्यम् च साम धर्म अर्थ नीतिमत् ।
प्रणय प्रीति संयुक्तम् विश्वास कृत निश्चयम् ॥ ॥४-२९-८॥
Hitam tathyam ca pathyam ca sāma dharma artha nītimat |
Praṇaya prīti saṃyuktam viśvāsa kṛta niścayam ॥4-29-8॥
Translation
(Hanuman's words were) beneficial, true, wholesome, conciliatory, and consistent with righteousness (Dharma), wealth (Artha), and polity (Niti). They were filled with affection and love, and designed to inspire confidence.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(हनुमान जी के वचन) हितकारी, सत्य, कल्याणकारी, साम (सौम्य), धर्म, अर्थ और नीति से युक्त थे। वे स्नेह और प्रेम से भरे हुए थे तथा विश्वास उत्पन्न करने वाले थे।
English Commentary
This verse acts as a manual for ministerial counsel. It enumerates the qualities of Hanuman's advice. It was not merely flattery; it was Hitam (beneficial in the long run) and Pathyam (wholesome/salutary). It balanced the three purusharthas: Dharma (righteous duty), Artha (practical gain), and Niti (political morality). Crucially, the advice was delivered with Pranaya (humility) and Priti (affection), ensuring Sugriva did not feel attacked. The ultimate goal was to create Vishvasa (trust/confidence), assuring the King that the advice, though urging action, was rooted in loyalty and aimed at his ultimate well-being.

इस श्लोक में हनुमान जी के वक्तव्य के गुणों का वर्णन है। एक आदर्श मंत्री की सलाह कैसी होनी चाहिए, यह यहाँ स्पष्ट है। उनकी बातें केवल प्रिय नहीं थीं, बल्कि 'हितम्' (परिणाम में लाभकारी) और 'पथ्यम्' (रोग नाशक औषधि की तरह कल्याणकारी) भी थीं। इसमें 'धर्म' (कर्तव्य), 'अर्थ' (लाभ) और 'नीति' (राजनीति) का त्रिवेणी संगम था। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण बात यह है कि उनकी बातों में 'प्रणय' (विनम्रता) और 'प्रीति' (प्रेम) था, जिससे सुग्रीव को यह विश्वास ('विश्वास कृत निश्चयम्') हो जाए कि हनुमान जो कह रहे हैं, वह सुग्रीव के भले के लिए ही है, न कि केवल आलोचना के लिए।
