Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवम् उक्त्वा तु हनुमाम् तौ वीरौ राम लक्ष्मणौ ।
वाक्यज्ञो वाक्य कुशलः पुनः न उवाच किंचन ॥ ॥४-३-२४॥
Evam uktvā tu hanumām tau vīrau rāma lakṣmaṇau |
Vākyajño vākya kuśalaḥ punaḥ na uvāca kiṃcana ॥4-3-24॥
Translation
Having spoken thus to those two heroes, Rama and Lakshmana, Hanuman, the knower of speech and skilled in language, spoke nothing more.

वाणी के मर्म को जानने वाले (वाक्यज्ञ) और बोलने में कुशल (वाक्य कुशल) हनुमान जी, उन दोनों वीरों—राम और लक्ष्मण—से इतना कहकर चुप हो गए (फिर कुछ नहीं बोले)।
English Commentary
This verse highlights Hanuman's mastery of communication skills. He is called 'Vakyajnah' (knower of the essence of speech) and 'Vakya kushalah' (skilled in delivery). The key lesson here is brevity. Once the message was delivered clearly—Who am I? Why am I here? What do I offer?—he fell silent. He did not ramble or over-explain. This silence allows the listener to process the information and creates a space for a dignified response. It marks the transition from his monologue to a dialogue.

यह श्लोक 'वाक-चातुर्य' (Art of speaking) का एक महत्वपूर्ण नियम सिखाता है: कब बोलना है और कब चुप हो जाना है। वाल्मीकि जी ने हनुमान को 'वाक्यज्ञ' (वाक्य का ज्ञान रखने वाला) और 'वाक्य कुशल' (प्रस्तुति में निपुण) कहा है। उन्होंने अपनी बात संक्षेप में, स्पष्टता से और पूर्णता के साथ कह दी। अब वे उत्तर की प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं। अनावश्यक बोलना प्रभाव को कम कर देता है। हनुमान जी ने अपनी 'पिच' (Pitch) समाप्त कर दी और अब निर्णय श्रीराम और लक्ष्मण पर छोड़ दिया। यह एक श्रेष्ठ दूत और वक्ता का लक्षण है।
