शाखासु सप्त च्छद पादपानाम् प्रभासु तार अर्क निशा कराणाम् ।
लीलासु चैव उत्तम वारणानाम् श्रियम् विभज्य अद्य शरत् प्रवृत्ता ॥ ॥४-३०-२७॥
Śākhāsu sapta cchada pādapānām Prabhāsu tāra arka niśā karāṇām |
Līlāsu caiva uttama vāraṇānām Śriyam vibhajya adya śarat pravṛttā ॥4-30-27॥
Translation
Today, the autumn season has arrived, distributing its splendor among the branches of the Saptaparna trees, the brilliance of the stars, sun, and moon, and the playful gait of noble elephants.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आज शरद ऋतु अपनी शोभा (श्री) को सप्तपर्ण (सतवन) वृक्षों की शाखाओं में, तारों, सूर्य और चन्द्रमा की प्रभा में, तथा उत्तम हाथियों की लीला (चाल) में विभाजित करके प्रवृत्त (प्रकट) हुई है।

यह श्लोक शरद ऋतु के आगमन की औपचारिक घोषणा है। कवि कहते हैं कि शरद की 'श्री' (शोभा) किसी एक स्थान पर नहीं, बल्कि 'विभज्य' (बंटकर) प्रकट हुई है। 1) वनस्पति में: सप्तपर्ण वृक्ष (जिसमें शरद में फूल आते हैं), 2) आकाश में: तारा, सूर्य और चन्द्रमा की स्पष्ट चमक, और 3) जीवों में: हाथियों की मदमस्त चाल। 'प्रवृत्ता' का अर्थ है कि ऋतु पूरी तरह से शुरू हो गई है। यह व्यापकता दर्शाती है कि प्रकृति का हर कण इस परिवर्तन से प्रभावित है।
