त्यक्त्वा वराण्यात्मविभूषणानि बर्हाणि तीरोपगता नदीनाम् ।
निर्भर्त्स्यमाना इव सारसौघैः प्रयान्ति दीना विमना मयूराः ॥४-३०-३९॥
tyaktvā varāṇyātmavibhūṣaṇāni barhāṇi tīropagatā nadīnām |
nirbhartsyamānā iva sārasaughaiḥ prayānti dīnā vimanā mayūrāḥ ॥4-30-39॥
Translation
Having shed their exquisite plumage which was their ornamentation, the peacocks, having approached the river banks, move away dejected and sad-minded, as if being scolded by the flocks of cranes.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपने उत्तम आभूषण रूपी पंखों को त्यागकर, नदियों के तट पर गए हुए मयूर, सारस पक्षियों के समूह द्वारा मानो तिरस्कृत होकर, दीन और उदास मन से जा रहे हैं।
English Commentary
This verse poignantly depicts the state of peacocks in autumn. The peacocks that danced during the rains have now lost their plumage and luster. The cranes (who thrive in autumn) seem to mock the peacocks with their calls. The words dīnā (miserable) and vimanā (sad-minded) are significant. Rama likely sees a reflection of his own state in these peacocks—just as they are lackluster without the rains, he is desolate without Sita. It offers a philosophical insight into how the wheel of time can render even the beautiful and proud into a state of dejection.

यह श्लोक शरद ऋतु में मोरों की स्थिति का मार्मिक चित्रण है। वर्षा ऋतु में जो मोर नृत्य करते थे, अब वे अपने पंख झड़ जाने से शोभाहीन हो गए हैं। सारस पक्षी (जो शरद में प्रसन्न होते हैं) अपनी आवाज़ से मानो इन मोरों का उपहास कर रहे हैं। यहाँ 'दीना' और 'विमना' शब्द महत्वपूर्ण हैं। राम शायद इन मोरों में अपनी स्थिति का प्रतिबिंब देख रहे हैं—जैसे मोर वर्षा (सुख/संयोग) के बीत जाने पर श्रीहीन हैं, वैसे ही राम सीता के बिना उदास हैं। समय का चक्र कैसे बलवानों और सुंदरों को भी दीन बना देता है, यह इसका दार्शनिक संकेत है।
