नदीघनप्रस्रवणोदकानां अतिप्रवृद्धानिलबर्हिणाम् ।
प्लवङ्गमानां च गतोत्सवानां ध्रुवं रवाः संप्रति संप्रणष्टाः ॥४-३०-४२॥
nadīghanaprasravaṇodakānāṃ atipravṛddhānilabarhiṇām |
plavaṅgamānāṃ ca gatotsavānāṃ dhruvaṃ ravāḥ saṃprati saṃpraṇaṣṭāḥ ॥4-30-42॥
Translation
The sounds of river rapids and waterfalls from clouds, of the raging winds, of peacocks, and of frogs—whose festivals are over—have now certainly silenced completely.
हिंदी अनुवाद
नदियों और बादलों से गिरते झरनों की, अत्यंत बढ़ी हुई हवा की, मोरों की और मेंढकों की आवाजें अब निश्चित रूप से पूरी तरह शांत हो गई हैं, क्योंकि इनका उत्सव (वर्षा ऋतु) अब समाप्त हो गया है।
English Commentary
This verse focuses on cessation and change. The cacophony that prevailed during the rainy season—from rivers, frogs, wind, and peacocks—has ceased. The term gatotsavānāṃ (those whose festivals are over) is poignant. Rama observes that everything has its season. The time for rain is gone; now is the time for autumn. Symbolically, this serves as a message regarding Sugriva: the time for rest and indulgence (his "festival") is over, and it is now time for the serious silence of action and duty.
