कुरुष्व सत्यम् मम वानरेश्वर प्रतिश्रुतम् धर्मम् अवेक्ष्य शाश्वतम् ।
मा वालिनम् प्रेत गतो यम क्षयम् त्वम् अद्य पश्येः मम चोदितः शरैः ॥४-३०-८३॥
kuruṣva satyam mama vānareśvara pratiśrutam dharmam avekṣya śāśvatam । mā vālinam preta gato yama kṣayam tvam adya paśyeḥ mama coditaḥ śaraiḥ ॥ ॥4-30-83॥
Translation
O Lord of Monkeys, keeping in view the eternal Dharma, make true the promise given to me. Do not let it come to pass that today, driven by my arrows, you go to the abode of Yama and see Vali who has become a spirit.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वानरेश्वर! शाश्वत धर्म को देखते हुए अपनी प्रतिज्ञा को सत्य करो। ऐसा न हो कि मेरे बाणों से प्रेरित होकर, आज ही तुम यमलोक जाकर प्रेत बने हुए वाली को देखो।
English Commentary
This serves as the closing argument of Rama's message. He invokes Shashvata Dharma (Eternal Law), elevating the issue from a personal grievance to a cosmic violation. The imagery is stark: Rama warns Sugriva against a reunion with Vali in Yama Kshayam (the abode of Death). This implies not just death, but the awkwardness of facing the brother whose throne he usurped. The phrase mama coditah sharaih (impelled by my arrows) confirms that Rama is ready to be the executioner. It is a final ultimatum: Choose Dharma and live, or choose Adharma and join the dead.

यह सर्ग का अंतिम और निर्णायक श्लोक है। राम पुनः 'शाश्वत धर्म' की दुहाई देते हैं, यह याद दिलाते हुए कि वचन पालन राजा का परम कर्तव्य है। यहाँ व्यंग्य और चेतावनी का अद्भुत मिश्रण है—'मा वालिनम् पश्येः' (वाली को मत देखना)। इसका अर्थ है कि यदि सुग्रीव मरा, तो परलोक में उसका सामना अपने भाई वाली से होगा, जिसे उसने मरवाया था। यह एक मनोवैज्ञानिक प्रहार भी है। राम स्पष्ट करते हैं कि सुग्रीव का जीवन अब केवल उनकी 'दया' पर नहीं, बल्कि सुग्रीव के अपने 'सत्य' पालन पर निर्भर है। यदि वह सत्य से डिगा, तो बाण तैयार हैं।
