नख दंष्ट्र आयुधा सर्वे वीराः विकृत दर्शनाः ।
सर्वे शार्दूल दर्पाः च सर्वे च विकृत आननाः ॥ ॥४-३१-२४॥
nakha daṃṣṭra āyudhā sarve vīrāḥ vikṛta darśanāḥ |
sarve śārdūla darpāḥ ca sarve ca vikṛta ānanāḥ ॥4-31-24॥
Translation
All those heroes used their claws and teeth as weapons and were grotesque in appearance. They all possessed the pride of tigers and had terrifying faces.

वे सभी वीर नखों और दाँतों को ही आयुध (हथियार) बनाने वाले थे, उनका स्वरूप विकराल था। वे सभी व्याघ्र (बाघ) के समान दर्प (गर्व) वाले और भयानक मुख वाले थे।
English Commentary
Valmiki describes the natural combat style of the Vanara army here. They rely not on artificial weaponry but on their biological assets—claws (nakha) and teeth (daṃṣṭra). The phrase śārdūla darpāḥ (pride of a tiger) signifies their fearlessness and aggression. The repetition of vikṛta (grotesque/distorted) in describing their appearance and faces underscores their non-human, formidable nature, intended to strike psychological terror into any opponent who dares to challenge the city.

वाल्मीकि यहाँ वानर सेना की नैसर्गिक युद्ध शैली का वर्णन करते हैं। उन्हें कृत्रिम शस्त्रों की आवश्यकता नहीं है; उनके 'नख' और 'दंष्ट्रा' (दाँत) ही वज्र समान हैं। 'शार्दूल दर्पाः' (बाघ जैसा गर्व/साहस) उनकी निर्भीकता और आक्रामकता को दर्शाता है। 'विकृत दर्शनाः' और 'विकृत आननाः' का प्रयोग उनके अमानवीय और डरावने रूप को पुष्ट करने के लिए किया गया है, जो शत्रु के मन में मनोवैज्ञानिक भय उत्पन्न करने के लिए पर्याप्त है।
