अथ अंगदः तस्य सुतीव्र वाचा संभ्रांत भावः परिदीन वक्त्रः ।
निर्गत्य पूर्वम् नृपतेः तरस्वी ततो रुमायाः चरणौ ववन्दे ॥ ॥४-३१-३६॥
atha aṃgadaḥ tasya sutīvra vācā saṃbhrānta bhāvaḥ paridīna vaktraḥ |
nirgatya pūrvam nṛpateḥ tarasvī tato rumāyāḥ caraṇau vavande ॥4-31-36॥
Translation
Then, agitated by his (Lakshmana's) very harsh words and with a wretched face, the swift Angada went out and first bowed to the feet of the King, and then to the feet of Ruma.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब लक्ष्मण की अत्यंत कठोर वाणी से घबराए हुए और मलिन मुख वाले वेगवान अंगद ने वहाँ से निकलकर पहले राजा (सुग्रीव) के और फिर रुमा के चरणों की वंदना की।
English Commentary
Lakshmana's sutīvra vācā (exceedingly harsh words) have left the usually radiant Angada with a paridīna vaktraḥ (pale/wretched face). This fear stems from concern for his kin rather than himself. Upon entering the inner chambers, Angada maintains courtly etiquette despite his panic, bowing first to the King and then to Ruma. The mention of Ruma confirms Sugriva's location and company. It highlights Angada's disciplined upbringing—maintaining protocol even when the kingdom faces an existential threat.

लक्ष्मण की 'सुतीव्र वाचा' (अत्यंत तीखे वचन) ने वीर अंगद को भी 'परिदीन वक्त्रः' (उदास/कांतिहीन मुख वाला) बना दिया है। यह भय अपने लिए नहीं, बल्कि अपने कुल के लिए है। सुग्रीव के अंतःपुर में पहुँचकर वे शिष्टाचार का पालन करते हैं। पहले राजा के चरण स्पर्श करना और फिर रुमा (सुग्रीव की पत्नी) के, यह दर्शाता है कि घबराहट में भी वे अपनी मर्यादा नहीं भूले हैं। रुमा का उल्लेख यह भी बताता है कि सुग्रीव उस समय उनके साथ थे।
