न धारये कोपम् उदीर्ण वेगम् निहन्मि सुग्रीवम् असत्यम् अद्य ।
हरि प्रवीरैः सह वालि पुत्रो नरेन्द्र पुत्र्या विचयम् करोतु ॥४-३१-४॥
na dhāraye kopam udīrṇa vegam nihanmi sugrīvam asatyam adya । hari pravīraiḥ saha vāli putro narendra putryā vicayam karotu ॥ ॥4-31-4॥
Translation
I cannot restrain the rising force of my anger. I shall kill the untruthful Sugriva today. Let the son of Vali (Angada), along with the monkey heroes, conduct the search for the Princess.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं अपने उमड़ते हुए क्रोध के वेग को रोक नहीं पा रहा हूँ। मैं उस झूठे सुग्रीव को आज ही मार डालूँगा। (उसके बाद) वाली पुत्र (अंगद) वानर वीरों के साथ सीता जी (नरेन्द्र पुत्री) की खोज करे।
English Commentary
Lakshmana presents a tactical alternative alongside his emotional outburst. He admits an inability to control his rage and declares his intent to commit regicide adya (today). However, he is not merely destructive; he proposes a pragmatic solution: install Angada (Vali putro) as the leader to search for Sita. This reveals that Lakshmana views the alliance with the Vanaras as essential, but Sugriva personally as expendable. He believes Angada would be a more compliant and grateful ally than his uncle.

लक्ष्मण यहाँ अपनी योजना (Plan B) प्रस्तुत करते हैं। वे राम से कहते हैं कि सुग्रीव अनिवार्य नहीं है। यदि सुग्रीव मर जाता है, तो अंगद (वाली पुत्र) नेतृत्व कर सकता है। लक्ष्मण का क्रोध 'उदीर्ण वेगम्' (बाढ़ की तरह) है जिसे वे रोक नहीं पा रहे। 'असत्यम्' (झूठे) सुग्रीव को मारकर वे न्याय करना चाहते हैं। यह श्लोक यह दर्शाता है कि लक्ष्मण ने न केवल वध का सोचा है, बल्कि उसके बाद के उत्तराधिकार (succession) के बारे में भी सोच लिया है। वे अंगद के माध्यम से कार्य सिद्ध करना चाहते हैं।
