Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रसादयित्वा सुग्रीवम् वचनैः स अर्थ निश्चितैः ।
आसीनम् पर्युपासीनौ यथा शक्रम् मरुत्पतिम् ॥ ॥४-३१-४४॥
prasādayitvā sugrīvam vacanaiḥ sa artha niścitaiḥ |
āsīnam paryupāsīnau yathā śakram marutpatim ॥4-31-44॥
Translation
Having pacified Sugriva with meaningful and decisive words, they sat around him who was seated, just as the Maruts sit around Indra, the Lord of Maruts.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जैसे मरुद्गण (देवता) इंद्र की सेवा में बैठते हैं, वैसे ही वे दोनों मंत्री बैठे हुए सुग्रीव के पास बैठकर, अर्थयुक्त और निश्चित वचनों से उन्हें प्रसन्न (शांत/सचेत) करने लगे।
English Commentary
The ministers first aim to stabilize Sugriva (prasādayitvā), utilizing words that are sa artha niścitaiḥ (meaningful and decisive/firm). Since Sugriva is disoriented, they need to ground him in reality. The simile comparing them to the Maruts attending Indra (Śakra) serves to remind Sugriva of his regal station. Despite his drunken state, he is the King, and he is now being called upon to act with the dignity and responsibility associated with that title.

मंत्री सुग्रीव को 'प्रसादयित्वा' (प्रसन्न/शांत करके) बात करते हैं। चूँकि सुग्रीव अभी नशे से उठे हैं और घबराए हुए हैं, उन्हें मानसिक रूप से स्थिर करना आवश्यक है। 'स अर्थ निश्चितैः' (तर्कसंगत और स्पष्ट) वचनों से वे उसे वास्तविकता समझाते हैं। उपमा 'यथा शक्रम् मरुत्पतिम्' (जैसे इंद्र के पास मरुत) सुग्रीव की राजसी गरिमा को पुनः स्थापित करती है—बावजूद उसकी वर्तमान दशा के, वह राजा है और उसे अब राजा की तरह व्यवहार करना होगा।
