अंगदस्य वचः श्रुत्वा सुग्रीवः सचिवैः सह ।
लक्ष्मणम् कुपितम् श्रुत्वा मुमोच आसनम् आत्मवान् ॥ ॥४-३२-१॥
Aṅgadasya vacaḥ śrutvā Sugrīvaḥ sacivaiḥ saha । Lakṣmaṇam kupitam śrutvā mumoca āsanam ātmavān ॥ ॥4-32-1॥
Translation
Hearing Angada's words and learning that Lakshmana was angry, the self-possessed Sugriva, along with his ministers, rose from his seat.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अंगद के वचन सुनकर और लक्ष्मण को क्रोधित जानकर, आत्मवान (बुद्धिमान/संयत) सुग्रीव ने मंत्रियों सहित अपना आसन छोड़ दिया (खड़े हो गए)।
English Commentary
This verse marks the shift from passive listening to active response. Despite his earlier intoxication, Sugriva is described as ātmavān (self-possessed/prudent), suggesting he quickly regained composure upon hearing the gravity of the situation. Leaving the seat (mumoca āsanam) is a physical manifestation of respect for Lakshmana and an acknowledgment of the crisis. It shows that the King is finally mobilizing his court to address the threat.

यहाँ से ३२वाँ सर्ग (कुछ पाठों में ३३वाँ) प्रारंभ होता है। 'आत्मवान' विशेषण सुग्रीव के लिए प्रयोग किया गया है, जो यह दर्शाता है कि भयभीत होने के बावजूद उन्होंने अपना मानसिक संतुलन नहीं खोया। आसन छोड़ना (मुमोच आसनम्) सम्मान प्रदर्शित करने और स्थिति की तत्परता को स्वीकार करने की क्रिया है। यह श्लोक सुग्रीव की विलासिता से सक्रियता की ओर संक्रमण (transition) को दर्शाता है।
