राघवेण तु वीरेण भयम् उत्सृज्य दूरतः ।
त्वत् प्रिय अर्थम् हतो वाली शक्र तुल्य पराक्रमः ॥४-३२-११॥
Rāghaveṇa tu vīreṇa bhayam utsṛjya dūrataḥ । Tvat priya artham hato vālī śakra tulya parākramaḥ ॥ ॥4-32-11॥
Translation
The heroic Raghava, casting fear far away, killed Vali—who was equal in valor to Indra—solely for your sake.

वीर राघव (राम) ने भय को दूर फेंककर, केवल आपका प्रिय करने के लिए, इंद्र के समान पराक्रमी बाली का वध किया।
English Commentary
Hanuman vividly recounts the scale of Rama's intervention. By comparing Vali to Indra (Shakra tulya), he underscores the impossible odds Rama overcame. The phrase bhayam utsrjya (casting off fear) implies that Rama acted courageously and decisively for Sugriva's benefit, without hesitation. The purpose of this recollection is to juxtapose Rama’s decisive action with Sugriva’s current inaction. Hanuman is emphasizing that the alliance was forged in blood and high stakes. By highlighting that it was done tvat priya artham (for your pleasure/sake), Hanuman places the moral onus squarely on Sugriva. It serves as a gentle but firm reminder: "He faced death for you; you simply need to initiate a search." This builds the logical foundation for why Sugriva must now face Lakshmana and Rama with humility rather than hiding in fear.
