न राम रामानुज शासनम् त्वयाकपीन्द्र युक्तम् मनसा अपि अपोहितुम् ।
मनो हि ते ज्ञास्यति मानुषम् बलम् स राघवस्य अस्य सुरेन्द्र वर्चसः ॥४-३२-२२॥
Na rāma rāmānuja śāsanam tvayā kapīndra yuktam manasā api apohitum । Mano hi te jñāsyati mānuṣam balam sa rāghavasya asya surendra varcasaḥ ॥ ॥4-32-22॥
Translation
O Lord of Monkeys, it is not proper for you to disregard the command of Rama and his younger brother, even in your mind. Your mind will soon realize the strength of that Raghava, who possesses the splendor of Indra despite his human form.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे कपीन्द्र! राम और उनके अनुज (लक्ष्मण) की आज्ञा का उल्लंघन करना, मन से भी (विचार मात्र में भी), आपके लिए उचित नहीं है। आपका मन शीघ्र ही उस राघव के बल को जान जाएगा, जो मानव रूप में होते हुए भी इंद्र के समान तेजस्वी हैं।
English Commentary
In this concluding counsel, Hanuman warns against the danger of underestimation. He explicitly forbids even the mental thought (manasa api) of defying Rama’s order (shasanam). This speaks to the absolute authority Rama holds in this alliance. Hanuman addresses the visual dissonance that might be confusing Sugriva. Rama looks like a human (manusham), which might make him seem beatable, but he possesses Surendra varchasah (the splendor/energy of Indra). Hanuman implies that Sugriva needs to look past the physical form to recognize the divine force he is dealing with. This final argument seals the discussion, leaving Sugriva with no option but to prepare for Lakshmana’s entry.

हनुमान अपनी बात समाप्त करते हुए सुग्रीव को अंतिम चेतावनी देते हैं। 'मनसा अपि' (मन से भी) वाक्यांश महत्वपूर्ण है। हनुमान कह रहे हैं कि विद्रोह तो दूर, अवज्ञा का विचार भी मन में लाना विनाशकारी हो सकता है। यहाँ 'मानुषम् बलम्' (मानवीय बल) और 'सुरेन्द्र वर्चसः' (इंद्र का तेज) के बीच का विरोधाभास (Contrast) अद्भुत है। राम ऊपर से साधारण मनुष्य दिखते हैं, लेकिन उनके भीतर इंद्र जैसी दिव्य शक्ति है। हनुमान सुग्रीव को आगाह कर रहे हैं कि राम के साधारण वेश को उनकी कमजोरी न समझें। यह श्लोक हनुमान के परामर्श का समापन करता है, जिसके बाद सुग्रीव का भ्रम टूटता है।
