Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न मे दुर् व्याहृतम् किंचित् न अपि मे दुर् अनुष्ठितम् ।
लक्ष्मणो राघव भ्राता क्रुद्धः किम् इति चिंतये ॥ ॥४-३२-३॥
Na me dur vyāhṛtam kiñcit na api me dur anuṣṭhitam । Lakṣmaṇo Rāghava bhrātā kruddhaḥ kim iti cintaye ॥ ॥4-32-3॥
Translation
I have not spoken anything harsh, nor have I done anything wrong. I am wondering why Lakshmana, the brother of Raghava, is angry.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैंने न तो कुछ बुरा कहा है और न ही मुझसे कोई बुरा कार्य हुआ है। फिर राघव (राम) के भाई लक्ष्मण क्यों क्रोधित हैं, मैं यही सोच रहा हूँ।
English Commentary
Sugriva's claim of innocence implies a disconnect between his perception and reality. While he did delay, he technically issued orders for mobilization earlier. His statement, "I have done nothing wrong," suggests he believes the administrative process is underway, unaware that the visible lack of action has incensed Rama. This reflects the gap between a King's internal commands and the external execution visible to allies.

सुग्रीव का यह कथन विरोधाभासी लग सकता है क्योंकि उन्होंने सीता की खोज में विलंब किया है। परंतु, सुग्रीव के दृष्टिकोण से, उन्होंने सेना को एकत्रित करने का आदेश पहले ही दे दिया था (नील को आज्ञा दी थी)। इसलिए वे स्वयं को निर्दोष मान रहे हैं। यह 'आत्म-बचाव' (Self-defense) की मनोवैज्ञानिक स्थिति है जहाँ व्यक्ति अनजाने में की गई गलती को स्वीकार करने के बजाय अपनी पूर्व की मंशा को ही सत्य मानता है।
