Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
हरिभिः संवृत द्वारम् बलिभिः शस्त्र पाणिभिः ।
दिव्य माल्य आवृतम् शुभ्रम् तप्त कांचन तोरणम् ॥४-३३-१७॥
Haribhiḥ saṃvṛta dvāram balibhiḥ śastra pāṇibhiḥ । Divya mālya āvṛtam śubhram tapta kāñcana toraṇam ॥ ॥4-33-17॥
Translation
The gate was surrounded by strong monkeys holding weapons. It was white, covered with divine garlands, and had an archway of molten gold.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस महल का द्वार शस्त्रधारी (शस्त्र पाणि), बलवान वानरों से घिरा हुआ था। वह द्वार दिव्य मालाओं से ढका था, श्वेत (शुभ्र) था और उसका तोरण (Archway) तपे हुए सोने का बना था।
English Commentary
The entrance combines aesthetics with defense. It is guarded by armed commandos (shastra panibhih), indicating that entry is restricted.
Visually, it is stunning, featuring a Torana (archway) made of tapta kanchana (refined/molten gold). The contrast between the "white" (shubhram) structure and the "gold" archway creates a striking image. This gate represents the final barrier between the outer world and the King. The garlands suggest a perpetual state of celebration or welcome, but the armed guards signal exclusivity.

यह श्लोक महल के मुख्य प्रवेश द्वार (Main Entrance) का वर्णन करता है। सुरक्षा कड़ी है—वानर 'शस्त्र पाणि' (हाथों में हथियार लिए) हैं। यह दिखाता है कि सुग्रीव अपनी सुरक्षा के प्रति सतर्क हैं, भले ही सीता की खोज के प्रति न हों।
सौंदर्य भी चरम पर है—'तप्त कांचन तोरणम्' (शुद्ध सोने का तोरण)। तोरण विजय और स्वागत का प्रतीक होता है। यहाँ सोने का तोरण सुग्रीव के असीमित धन का प्रदर्शन है। यह द्वार सौंदर्य (Beauty) और शक्ति (Power) का संगम है, जिसे लक्ष्मण अब भेदने वाले हैं।
