Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
हैम राजत पर्यन्कैः बहुभिः च वर आसनैः ।
महा अर्ह आस्तरण उपेतैः तत्र तत्र समावृतम् ॥४-३३-२०॥
Haima rājata paryaṅkaiḥ bahubhiḥ ca vara āsanaiḥ । Mahā arha āstaraṇa upetaiḥ tatra tatra samāvṛtam ॥ ॥4-33-20॥
Translation
(The inner apartment) was filled with many gold and silver beds and excellent seats. These were covered with very valuable spreads and scattered here and there.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(वह अंतःपुर) सोने और चाँदी के पलंगों (पर्यन्क) तथा बहुत से उत्तम आसनों से भरा हुआ था। वे आसन बहुमूल्य बिछौनों (आस्तरण) से ढके हुए थे और यहाँ-वहाँ फैले हुए थे।
English Commentary
Lakshmana witnesses the interior decor of the harem. It is cluttered with Haima Rajata Paryankaih (couches/beds of gold and silver). The emphasis on precious metals highlights the grotesque inequality between the allies' current situations.
The Maha arha astarana (worthy/expensive coverings) signifies the comfort Sugriva is drowning in. Seeing these symbols of sleep and lethargy (beds and seats) scattered everywhere serves as a visual confirmation of Hanuman's earlier assessment—Sugriva is lost in pleasure. For Lakshmana, every soft cushion is an insult to Rama's hardship.

अंतःपुर के भीतर का दृश्य विलासिता का चरम है। 'हैम राजत पर्यन्कैः' (सोने-चाँदी के पलंग) सुग्रीव के वर्तमान जीवन का प्रतीक हैं। 'महा अर्ह आस्तरण' (बहुमूल्य कालीन/चादरें) आराम और भोग को दर्शाते हैं।
'तत्र तत्र समावृतम्' (यहाँ-वहाँ भरे हुए) से पता चलता है कि वहां बहुत से लोग (रानियाँ और दासियाँ) रहते थे और वह स्थान फर्नीचर से भरा हुआ था। लक्ष्मण के लिए, जो जानते हैं कि राम पत्थर की शिलाओं पर सो रहे हैं, ये सोने के पलंग सुग्रीव के विश्वासघात के साक्ष्य (Evidence) समान हैं।
