बह्वीः च विविध आकारा रूप यौवन गर्विताः ।
स्त्रियः सुग्रीव भवने ददर्श स महाबलः ॥ ॥४-३३-२२॥
Bahvih cha vividha akara rupa yauvana garvitah |
Striyah sugriva bhavane dadarsha sa mahabalah ॥4-33-22॥
Translation
The mighty Lakshmana saw many women in Sugriva's palace, of various forms and appearances, who were proud of their beauty and youth.

उस महाबली (लक्ष्मण) ने सुग्रीव के भवन में अनेक प्रकार की (विभिन्न वर्ण और आकृति वाली) रूप और यौवन से गर्वित बहुत सी स्त्रियों को देखा।
English Commentary
The descriptor mahabalah (mighty/strong) is used for Lakshmana here to perhaps juxtapose his physical and moral strength against the softness of the harem scene. He observes women of diverse origins (vividha akara), suggesting Sugriva’s extensive collection of companions. The phrase rupa yauvana garvitah (proud of beauty and youth) highlights the atmosphere of vanity and distraction that permeates the palace. For Lakshmana, who is currently living a life of celibacy and hardship for his brother's sake, witnessing this excess underscores the gravity of Sugriva’s negligence.
