अंगदेन यथा मह्यम् पुरस्तात् प्रतिवेदितम् ।
सुव्यक्तम् एष संप्राप्तः सौमित्रिः भ्रातृ वत्सलः ॥ ॥४-३३-२९॥
Angadena yatha mahyam purastat prativeditam |
Suvyaktam esha sampraptah saumitrih bhratri vatsalah ॥4-33-29॥
Translation
(Sugriva thought) As previously reported to me by Angada, it is clear that Soumitri (Lakshmana), who is devoted to his brother, has arrived.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(सुग्रीव ने सोचा) जैसा कि अंगद ने मुझे पहले ही सूचित किया था, यह स्पष्ट है कि भाई (राम) के प्रेमी सुमित्रानंदन (लक्ष्मण) आ पहुँचे हैं।
English Commentary
Sugriva connects the dots. He recalls Angada's earlier warning, realizing that the threat is now physically present. The epithet bhatru vatsalah (lover of his brother) defines Lakshmana's motivation. Sugriva acknowledges that he is dealing with a man whose primary driving force is devotion to Rama. This makes Lakshmana predictable in his loyalty but unpredictable in his fury if that loyalty is offended. It validates Angada's foresight, which Sugriva had momentarily ignored or underestimated amidst his revelry.

सुग्रीव को अंगद की चेतावनी का स्मरण होता है। अंगद ने पहले ही आकर बता दिया था कि लक्ष्मण क्रोधित होकर आ रहे हैं, लेकिन तब शायद सुग्रीव ने उसे गंभीरता से नहीं लिया था। यहाँ लक्ष्मण के लिए 'भ्रातृ वत्सलः' (भाई से स्नेह करने वाला) विशेषण का प्रयोग महत्वपूर्ण है। सुग्रीव जानते हैं कि लक्ष्मण का क्रोध स्वयं के लिए नहीं, बल्कि राम के प्रति उनके अगाध प्रेम के कारण है। यही प्रेम लक्ष्मण को सुग्रीव के लिए सबसे अधिक खतरनाक बनाता है।
