Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ते न शक्या रणे हंतुम् असहायेन लक्ष्मण ।
रावणः क्रूर कर्मा च सुग्रीवेण विशेषतः ॥ ॥४-३५-१७॥
Te na śakyā raṇe hantum asahāyena Lakṣmaṇa । Rāvaṇaḥ krūra karmā ca Sugrīveṇa viśeṣataḥ ॥ ॥4-35-17॥
Translation
They (the demons) cannot be killed in battle by one who is unaccompanied (helpless), O Lakshmana; and Ravana, of cruel deeds, specifically requires Sugriva('s help to be defeated).
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे लक्ष्मण! वे राक्षस युद्ध में अकेले (बिना सहायता के) नहीं मारे जा सकते। और विशेष रूप से क्रूर कर्म करने वाले रावण का वध सुग्रीव की सहायता के बिना संभव नहीं है।
English Commentary
Tara underscores the interdependence of the alliance. She bluntly states that Lakshmana (or Rama) cannot win this war "Asahayena" (unaccompanied/without allies). The sheer number of enemies makes a solo campaign suicidal. furthermore, she emphasizes that Sugriva is indispensable for defeating Ravana. By asserting Sugriva's value ("Visheshatah" - specifically/especially), she restores the power balance in the conversation. Lakshmana isn't just speaking to a subordinate who failed; he is speaking to a critical ally whose military support is the only key to Rama's victory.

तारा यहाँ लक्ष्मण को वास्तविकता का भान कराती हैं। यद्यपि राम और लक्ष्मण अत्यंत शक्तिशाली हैं, फिर भी 'असहायेन' (सहायता के बिना) इतनी विशाल सेना को हराना असंभव नहीं तो अत्यंत कठिन अवश्य है। तारा विशेष रूप से जोर देती हैं कि रावण का वध करने के लिए 'सुग्रीवेण विशेषतः' (विशेषकर सुग्रीव) की आवश्यकता है। यह सुग्रीव के महत्व को स्थापित करता है। वह यह संदेश दे रही हैं: "आपको सुग्रीव की उतनी ही जरूरत है जितनी सुग्रीव को आपकी थी, इसलिए उसे डराने के बजाय उसका साथ बनाए रखना ही बुद्धिमानी है।"
