Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
यत् च शोक अभिभूतस्य श्रुत्वा रामस्य भाषितम् ।
मया त्वम् परुषाणि उक्तः तत् क्षमस्व सखे मम ॥ ॥४-३६-२०॥
Yat ca śoka abhibhūtasya śrutvā Rāmasya bhāṣitam |
Mayā tvam paruṣāṇi uktaḥ tat kṣamasva sakhe mama ॥4-36-20॥
Translation
Having heard the words of Rama who is overwhelmed by grief, I spoke harsh words to you; please forgive that, my friend.
हिंदी अनुवाद
शोक से व्याकुल श्रीराम के वचन सुनकर मैंने जो आपसे कठोर बातें (परुष वचन) कहीं थीं, हे सखे (मित्र)! उसके लिए मुझे क्षमा कर दें।
English Commentary
The reconciliation concludes with Lakshmana asking for forgiveness in return. He explains the root of his earlier aggression: seeing Rama overwhelmed by grief (Shoka abhibhutasya). He takes ownership of his Parushani (harsh words) and asks Sugriva to forgive him, addressing him intimately as Sakhe (friend). This mutual exchange of apologies—Sugriva for his delay, Lakshmana for his temper—clears the air completely, setting the stage for the war preparations with a clean slate.

यह लक्ष्मण की विनम्रता की पराकाष्ठा है। एक राजकुमार होने के बावजूद, वे वानरराज से माफी मांगते हैं। वे स्वीकार करते हैं कि उनका क्रोध व्यक्तिगत नहीं था, बल्कि राम के शोक को देखकर उपजी प्रतिक्रिया थी। वे सुग्रीव को 'सखे' (मित्र) संबोधित करते हैं। जहाँ सुग्रीव ने अपनी गलती मानी (श्लोक 11), वहीं लक्ष्मण ने अपनी कठोरता के लिए क्षमा मांगी। दोनों पक्षों द्वारा अहंकार का त्याग ही उनकी मित्रता को अटूट बनाता है।
