स लक्ष्मणम् भीम बलम् सर्व वानर सत्तमः ।
अब्रवीत् प्रश्रितम् वाक्यम् सुग्रीवः संप्रहर्षयन् ॥ ॥४-३६-४॥
Sa Lakṣmaṇam bhīma balam sarva vānara sattamaḥ |
Abravīt praśritam vākyam Sugrīvaḥ sampraharṣayan ॥4-36-4॥
Translation
Then Sugriva, the foremost among all monkeys, addressed the terribly powerful Lakshmana with polite words, intending to please him.

तब वानरों में श्रेष्ठ सुग्रीव ने भयानक बल वाले लक्ष्मण को प्रसन्न करते हुए हाथ जोड़कर विनम्र वचन कहे।
English Commentary
Sugriva shifts into a mode of humility and reconciliation. Recognizing Lakshmana as Bhima balam (of terrible/formidable strength), he chooses his approach carefully. The text notes he speaks to 'please' or 'gladden' Lakshmana, indicating that Sugriva is actively trying to repair the relationship. He adopts a submissive tone to ensure the alliance remains intact, showing he values Rama and Lakshmana's friendship above his royal pride.

सुग्रीव अब कूटनीति और विनम्रता का मार्ग अपनाते हैं। 'भीम बलम्' विशेषण लक्ष्मण की शक्ति को स्वीकार करता है। सुग्रीव जानते हैं कि लक्ष्मण अभी-अभी शांत हुए हैं, इसलिए वे उन्हें 'प्रसन्न' (संप्रहर्षयन्) करते हुए बात शुरू करते हैं। यह राजा सुग्रीव का नहीं, बल्कि एक कृतज्ञ मित्र सुग्रीव का स्वर है जो अपनी गलती सुधारना चाहता है।
