अंगारक समानानाम् भीमानाम् भीम कर्मणाम् ।
विंध्यात् वानर कोटीनाम् सहस्राणि अपतन् द्रुतम् ॥४-३७-२४॥
aṃgāraka samānānām bhīmānām bhīma karmaṇām |
viṃdhyāt vānara koṭīnām sahasrāṇi apatan drutam ॥4-37-24॥
Translation
From the Vindhya mountains, thousands of crores of monkeys, terrible in appearance and terrible in action, resembling burning coals (or Mars), descended swiftly.

English Commentary
The Vanaras from the Vindhya range are depicted as fierce warriors. "Angaraka" evokes the imagery of burning embers or the red planet Mars, symbolizing aggression and martial heat. They are "bhīma karmaṇām"—doers of terrifying deeds, indicating their ruthlessness in battle. Being geographically closer to Kishkindha than the Himalayan troops, they "apatan drutam" (descended/fell in quickly). Their description suggests a shock-troop capability, adding a ferocious edge to the assembling army, balancing the diverse forces now gathered at Sugriva's behest.
