तानि मूलानि दिव्यानि फलानि च फल अशनाः ।
औषधानि च दिव्यानि जगृहुर् हरि पुंगवाः ॥४-३७-३१॥
tāni mūlāni divyāni phalāni ca phala aśanāḥ |
auṣadhāni ca divyāni jagṛhur hari puṃgavāḥ ॥4-37-31॥
Translation
Those bulls among monkeys, who subside on fruits, gathered those divine roots, fruits, and divine medicinal herbs.

फल खाने वाले (फलाशनाः) उन वानर-शिरोमणियों ने उन दिव्य मूलों, फलों और दिव्य औषधियों को (सुग्रीव के लिए) ले लिया।
English Commentary
The loyalty of the Vanara messengers is exemplary. Upon finding these miraculous provisions, they did not merely consume them greedily; they "gathered" (jagṛhuḥ) them. The text refers to them as "Hari pungavah" (bulls among monkeys), implying their strength and leadership quality. Even though they are natural fruit-eaters, their instinct was to secure these resources, presumably to present them to their King or to use them for the greater good of the mission. This act of gathering divine herbs and fruits also foreshadows the later search for Sanjeevani, highlighting the Vanaras' connection with healing flora.

वानर दूतों की स्वामिभक्ति यहाँ दर्शनीय है। उन्होंने उन अद्भुत फलों और औषधियों को केवल स्वयं खाकर समाप्त नहीं किया, बल्कि उन्हें 'जगृहुर्' (संग्रह किया/उठा लिया)। यद्यपि वे स्वयं 'फलाशनाः' (फल खाने वाले) थे और तुरंत खा सकते थे, किंतु उनके मन में अपने राजा सुग्रीव का विचार सर्वप्रथम आया। 'हरि पुंगवाः' (वानरों में श्रेष्ठ/बैल समान) विशेषण उनकी शारीरिक क्षमता के साथ-साथ उनके नैतिक श्रेष्ठता को भी दर्शाता है। उत्तम सेवक सदैव अपने स्वामी के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ वस्तु ले जाने का प्रयास करता है।
