तस्मात् च यज्ञ आयतनात् पुष्पाणि सुरभीणि च ।
आनिन्युर् वानरा गत्वा सुग्रीव प्रिय कारणात् ॥४-३७-३२॥
tasmāt ca yajña āyatanāt puṣpāni surabhīṇi ca |
āninyur vānarā gatvā sugrīva priya kāraṇāt ॥4-37-32॥
Translation
And from that sacrificial ground, the monkeys fetched fragrant flowers, going there for the sake of pleasing Sugriva.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सुग्रीव को प्रसन्न करने के उद्देश्य से (सुग्रीव प्रिय कारणात्), उन वानरों ने उस यज्ञ-भूमि से जाकर सुगंधित फूल भी ले लिए।
English Commentary
The motivation behind the gathering is explicitly stated: "Sugriva priya karanat" (to do what is pleasing to Sugriva). The monkeys understand their King's dual nature—he is a lover of beauty and luxury, but also a demanding master. By bringing fragrant flowers from a holy sacrificial site, they are offering a tribute that appeals to his royal aesthetic and shows their dedication. It is a diplomatic gesture by the returning envoys to ensure a warm reception upon their arrival at Kishkindha, proving their thoughtfulness beyond just executing military orders.
