Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवम् श्रुत्वा ततो हृष्टः सुग्रीवः प्लवग अधिपः ।
प्रतिजग्राह च प्रीतः तेषाम् सर्वम् उपायनम् ॥४-३७-३७॥
evam śrutvā tato hṛṣṭaḥ sugrīvaḥ plavaga adhipaḥ |
pratijagrāha ca prītaḥ teṣām sarvam upāyanam ॥4-37-37॥
Translation
Hearing this, Sugriva, the Lord of Monkeys, was delighted; and being pleased, he accepted all the gifts brought by them.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(दूतों के) ऐसे वचन सुनकर वानरराज सुग्रीव अत्यंत हर्षित हुए और प्रसन्न होकर उन्होंने उन (वानरों) द्वारा लाई गई सभी भेंट (उपहार) स्वीकार कीं।
English Commentary
This verse marks the conclusion of Sarga 37 and signifies the resolution of high tension. Sugriva, who was previously paralyzed by the fear of Lakshmana’s wrath and the guilt of delay, is now "hrishtah" (delighted). The return of the envoys with news of the massive mobilization reassures him that he can fulfill his vow to Rama. The acceptance of "upayanam" (tributes/gifts) is a formal royal act, validating the messengers' efforts and signaling the King's satisfaction. Sugriva's joy stems not merely from the material gifts, but from the relief that the mobilization is successful and he is now prepared to face Rama.

यह श्लोक किष्किन्धाकाण्ड के 37वें सर्ग का समापन और एक बड़े तनाव की समाप्ति का सूचक है। सुग्रीव, जो लक्ष्मण के क्रोध और राम के कार्य में विलंब के कारण भयभीत थे, अब 'हृष्टः' (हर्षित) हैं। वानर दूतों की वापसी और सेना के आगमन की खबर ने उन्हें आश्वस्त कर दिया है कि वे अपनी प्रतिज्ञा पूरी करने की स्थिति में हैं। 'उपायनम्' (भेंट/उपहार) का स्वीकार करना एक राजसी औपचारिकता है, जो पुष्टि करती है कि राजा अपने सेवकों के कार्य से संतुष्ट हैं। सुग्रीव की प्रसन्नता केवल उपहारों के लिए नहीं, बल्कि आसन्न संकट के टल जाने के कारण है।
