बद्ध अंजलि पुटाः सर्वे ये स्युः स्त्री दर्शन क्षमाः ।
तान् उवाच ततः प्राप्तान् राजा अर्क सदृश प्रभः ॥४-३८-८॥
baddha añjali puṭāḥ sarve ye syuḥ strī darśana kṣamāḥ |
tān uvāca tataḥ prāptān rājā arka sadṛśa prabhaḥ ॥4-38-8॥
Translation
Those who were permitted to see the women arrived there with folded hands. Then the King, shining like the sun, spoke to them.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जो (वानर) रनिवास में जाने (स्त्रियों को देखने) के अधिकारी थे, वे हाथ जोड़कर वहाँ उपस्थित हुए। तब सूर्य के समान तेजस्वी राजा (सुग्रीव) ने उनसे कहा।
English Commentary
This verse specifies the rank of the attendants; they are "stri darshana kshamah"—trusted guards or chamberlains permitted within the harem. Their posture of "baddha anjali" (folded hands) indicates complete submission. Sugriva is described as "arka sadrisha prabhah" (resplendent like the sun). This solar imagery honors his lineage (son of Surya) and serves a narrative purpose: the gloomy clouds of negligence have parted, and the radiant, dutiful King has emerged. He stands tall, ready to command.

यहाँ सुग्रीव के अंतःपुर रक्षकों का वर्णन है। 'स्त्री दर्शन क्षमाः' वे विशेष सेवक या कंचुकी हैं जिन्हें रनिवास में प्रवेश की अनुमति है। उनका 'बद्ध अंजलि पुटाः' (हाथ जोड़े हुए) आना सुग्रीव के प्रति असीम श्रद्धा दिखाता है। सुग्रीव की तुलना 'अर्क सदृश प्रभः' (सूर्य के समान प्रभा वाले) से की गई है। सुग्रीव सूर्यपुत्र हैं, और अब जब वे धर्म कार्य के लिए निकल रहे हैं, तो उनका ओज (Tejas) दीप्त हो उठा है। यह उपमा उनके राजसी गौरव को पुनर्स्थापित करती है।
