इति ब्रुवाणम् सुग्रीवम् रामो धर्मभृताम् वरः ।
बाहुभ्याम् संपरिष्वज्य प्रत्युवाच कृतांजलिम् ॥ ॥४-३९-१॥
Iti bruvāṇam sugrīvam rāmo dharmabhṛtām varaḥ |
Bāhubhyām saṃpariṣvajya pratyuvāca kṛtāṃjalim ॥4-39-1॥
Translation
Rama, the best among the upholders of Dharma, embraced with both arms Sugriva, who was speaking thus with folded hands, and replied to him.

ऐसा कह रहे हाथ जोड़े हुए सुग्रीव को, धर्मधारियों में श्रेष्ठ राम ने अपनी दोनों भुजाओं से गले लगा लिया और उनसे (यह) कहा।
English Commentary
This verse opens the next chapter (Sarga 39) with a touching gesture of reconciliation. Sugriva is standing with Kritanjali (folded hands), a sign of submission and respect. Rama, described as the ethical ideal (Dharmabhritam varah), responds not with words initially, but with a warm embrace (Samparishvajya). This action seals the bond renewed in the previous verses. It visually demonstrates that Rama holds no grudge regarding the delay; he values the current sincerity and effort of his friend above past mistakes.

अगले सर्ग की शुरुआत राम की प्रतिक्रिया से होती है। सुग्रीव हाथ जोड़े खड़े हैं (विनम्रता का प्रतीक), और राम उन्हें गले लगा रहे हैं (प्रेम और क्षमा का प्रतीक)। राम के लिए 'धर्मभृताम् वरः' (धर्म को धारण करने वालों में श्रेष्ठ) विशेषण का प्रयोग हुआ है। धर्म यह कहता है कि शरणागत और मित्र को क्षमा कर उसे अपनाना चाहिए। लक्ष्मण के क्रोध के बाद, राम का यह आलिंगन सुग्रीव को पूरी तरह से अभयदान और प्रेम प्रदान करता है। यह शारीरिक संकेत (Embrace) दोनों के बीच की सारी दूरियों को मिटा देता है।
