यत् इन्द्रो वर्षते वर्षम् न तत् चित्रम् भविष्यति ।
आदित्यो असौ सहस्रांशुः कुर्यात् वितिमिरम् नभः ॥ ॥४-३९-२॥
Yat indro varṣate varṣam na tat citram bhaviṣyati |
Ādityo asau sahasrāṃśuḥ kuryāt vitimiram nabhaḥ ॥4-39-2॥
Translation
Just as it is no wonder that Indra showers rain, or that the thousand-rayed Sun dispels darkness from the sky, [so is your benevolence natural to you].
हिंदी अनुवाद
जैसे इन्द्र का वर्षा करना कोई आश्चर्य की बात नहीं है, और जैसे वह हजार किरणों वाला सूर्य आकाश से अंधकार को दूर कर देता है (यह उसका स्वभाव है), [वैसे ही आपका उपकार करना भी आश्चर्यजनक नहीं है]।
English Commentary
Rama graciously acknowledges Sugriva’s help by normalizing it as a trait of the great. By comparing Sugriva’s benevolence to natural phenomena—Indra raining and the Sun shining—Rama suggests that heroism and helpfulness are intrinsic to Sugriva's nature, not forced obligations. This is a masterstroke of diplomacy and friendship; instead of expressing burdensome indebtedness, Rama elevates Sugriva’s stature, implying that a king of his caliber naturally dispels the darkness of his friends' troubles just as the Sun dispels the night.

श्रीराम यहाँ सुग्रीव की प्रशंसा अत्यंत कुलीनता से करते हैं। वे कहते हैं कि जैसे प्रकृति के देवता (इन्द्र और सूर्य) अपना कार्य बिना किसी दिखावे के स्वभावतः करते हैं, वैसे ही सुग्रीव द्वारा मित्र का हित करना उनका सहज स्वभाव है। राम यह जताना चाहते हैं कि सुग्रीव का यह प्रयास उन पर 'एहसान' नहीं, बल्कि उनकी 'महानता' का लक्षण है। यह तुलना सुग्रीव को देवताओं की श्रेणी में रखती है और उनके आत्मसम्मान को बढ़ाती है। राम यह संदेश दे रहे हैं कि शक्तिशाली लोग स्वाभाविक रूप से परोपकारी होते हैं।
