पद्म केसर संकाशः तरुण अर्क निभ आननः ।
बुद्धिमान् वानर श्रेष्ठः सर्व वानर सत्तमः ॥ ॥४-३९-१७॥
padma kesara saṁkāśaḥ taruṇa arka nibha ānanaḥ । buddhimān vānara śreṣṭhaḥ sarva vānara sattamaḥ ॥ ॥4-39-17॥

English Commentary
This verse serves as a descriptive prelude to the introduction of Kesari in the following line. It vividly describes his physical and mental attributes. He possesses the golden hue of a lotus filament and a face as radiant as the rising sun (Taruna Arka), symbolizing vitality and hope. Beyond physical beauty, emphasis is placed on his intellect (Buddhiman) and virtue (Sattama). Being called the "best among Vanaras" prepares the reader for the entrance of a highly significant character. This imagery aligns with the solar symbolism often associated with high-energy warriors in Vedic literature.
