नील अंजन चय आकारो नीलो नाम अथ यूथपः ।
अदृश्यत महाकायः कोटिभिः दशभिः वृतः ॥ ॥४-३९-२२॥
nīla añjana caya ākāro nīlo nāma atha yūthapaḥ । adṛśyata mahākāyaḥ koṭibhiḥ daśabhiḥ vṛtaḥ ॥ ॥4-39-22॥
Translation
Then, the commander named Nila, of massive body and resembling a heap of blue collyrium, appeared surrounded by ten crores of warriors.

English Commentary
Here enters Nila, who serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the entire Vanara army. He is poetically described as resembling a mound of "blue collyrium" (dark eye-salve), indicating a striking, deep blue-black complexion. As the son of Agni (the Fire God), his inner radiance matches his massive physical frame (Mahakaya). He brings ten crores of troops. Nila is pivotal to the upcoming war; he directs the bridge-building (along with Nala) and manages the troop movements. His arrival signifies that the central command structure of Sugriva’s forces is now assembling.
