गजः च बलवान् वीरः त्रिसृभिः कोटिभिः वृतः ।
आजगाम महातेजाः सुग्रीवस्य समीपतः ॥ ॥४-३९-२६॥
gajaḥ ca balavān vīraḥ tisṛbhiḥ koṭibhiḥ vṛtaḥ । ājagāma mahātejāḥ sugrīvasya samīpataḥ ॥ ॥4-39-26॥
Translation
The mighty and heroic Gaja, possessing great radiance, arrived near Sugriva surrounded by three crores of Vanaras.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महान तेजस्वी, बलवान और वीर 'गज' तीन करोड़ वानरों से घिरे हुए सुग्रीव के समीप आ पहुंचे।
English Commentary
This verse introduces the commander named Gaja (literally meaning "Elephant"). The attributes Balavan (strong) and Mahatejah (of great energy/radiance) are used to describe him. He arrives with three crores of troops. In the context of the war, Gaja is a significant warrior who later fights fierce battles against Ravana's army. His arrival "near Sugriva" (Sugrivasya samipatah) suggests his rank allows him close proximity to the King, indicating he is part of the inner circle of leadership.
