ततो यूथ पतिः वीरो दुर्मुखो नाम वानरः ।
प्रत्यदृश्यत कोटिभ्याम् द्वाभ्याम् परिवृतो बली ॥ ॥४-३९-३४॥
tato yūtha patiḥ vīro durmukho nāma vānaraḥ । pratyadṛśyata koṭibhyām dvābhyām parivṛto balī ॥ ॥4-39-34॥
Translation
Then the heroic and strong commander named Durmukha appeared, surrounded by two crores of Vanaras.

English Commentary
The commander Durmukha appears. His name literally translates to "Bad Face" or "Ugly Face," implying a fierce, grimacing visage that terrifies opponents in battle. He is described as Bali (strong) and Vira (heroic). He commands two crores of troops. While the number is smaller than some others, the text emphasizes his personal strength. He is a distinct character from the Rakshasa of the same name. His contingent adds to the diverse array of warriors assembling at Kishkindha.
