कैलास शिखर आकारैः वानरैः भीम विक्रमैः ।
वृतः कोटि सहस्रेण हनुमान् प्रत्यदृश्यत ॥ ॥४-३९-३५॥
kailāsa śikhara ākāraiḥ vānaraiḥ bhīma vikramaiḥ । vṛtaḥ koṭi sahasreṇa hanumān pratyadṛśyata ॥ ॥4-39-35॥
Translation
Then Hanuman appeared, surrounded by a thousand crores of Vanaras of terrible prowess who resembled the peaks of Mount Kailash.

तब कैलाश पर्वत के शिखर के समान आकार वाले और भयानक पराक्रम वाले एक हजार करोड़ वानरों से घिरे हुए हनुमान जी दिखाई दिए।
English Commentary
Hanuman makes his formal entry with his own division of troops. His soldiers are poetically described as resembling "peaks of Kailash" (Kailasa shikhara akaraih), suggesting they are massive, white, or silver-hued, distinguishing them from the brown or tawny monkeys. They possess Bhima Vikrama (terrifying valor). Leading a thousand crores, Hanuman’s arrival is a climax in the gathering. While he is a minister, he is also a warlord in his own right, commanding a formidable legion dedicated to the cause.

यह श्लोक रामायण के सबसे प्रिय पात्र, हनुमान जी के स्वयं के दल का वर्णन करता है। यद्यपि उनके पिता केसरी पहले आ चुके हैं, यहाँ हनुमान जी अपनी सेना के साथ आते हैं। उनके साथ चल रहे वानरों की तुलना 'कैलास शिखर' (सफेद और विशाल) से की गई है, जो शायद यह संकेत है कि यह वानर श्वेत वर्ण के या अत्यंत विशालकाय हैं। उनकी संख्या एक हजार करोड़ बताई गई है। हनुमान जी का आगमन विशेष है क्योंकि वे इस संपूर्ण अभियान के मुख्य सूत्रधार बनेंगे।
