शरभः कुमुदो वह्निः वानरो रंहः एव च ।
एते च अन्ये च बहवो वानराः काम रूपिणः ॥ ॥४-३९-३८॥
śarabhaḥ kumudo vahniḥ vānaro raṁhaḥ eva ca । ete ca anye ca bahavo vānarāḥ kāma rūpiṇaḥ ॥ ॥4-39-38॥
Translation
Sharabha, Kumuda, Vahni, and the Vanara named Ramha also arrived. These and many other Vanaras were capable of changing their form at will.

शरभ, कुमुद, वह्नि और रंह नामक वानर भी आए। ये तथा अन्य बहुत से वानर अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार रूप धारण करने वाले (काम रूपिणः) थे।
English Commentary
This verse lists the remaining commanders—Sharabha, Kumuda, Vahni, and Ramha. The key descriptor here is Kama-rupinah (those who can change form at will). This shape-shifting ability distinguishes the Vanara army from a standard animal force. It implies they possess supernatural powers (siddhis) allowing them to adapt to any combat situation—shrinking for stealth or expanding for brute force. This capability is strategically vital for the upcoming war against the Rakshasas, who are masters of illusion (Maya).
