अपरे वानर श्रेष्ठाः संगम्य च यथा उचितम् ।
सुग्रीवेण समागम्य स्थिताः प्रांजलयः तदा ॥ ॥४-३९-४२॥
apare vānara śreṣṭhāḥ saṁgamya ca yathā ucitam । sugrīveṇa samāgamya sthitāḥ prāñjalayaḥ tadā ॥ ॥4-39-42॥
Translation
Other excellent Vanaras also met with Sugriva according to proper etiquette, and then stood there with folded palms.

अन्य श्रेष्ठ वानरों ने भी यथोचित रीति से मिलकर, सुग्रीव के पास जाकर और हाथ जोड़कर (प्रांजलि) वहां स्थिति ग्रहण की।
English Commentary
This verse emphasizes the protocol (Yatha uchitam - as is appropriate) observed by the senior commanders. After the initial chaotic arrival, order is established. The chiefs stand with Pranjalay (folded hands), a gesture of deep respect, loyalty, and readiness to serve. This visual of powerful warlords standing humbly before Sugriva sets the stage for the transition of command—where Sugriva will soon redirect this immense loyalty toward Rama. It marks the moment of focused attention before the briefing begins.

पिछले श्लोक की निरंतरता में, यह श्लोक वरिष्ठ वानरों के व्यवहार को दर्शाता है। 'यथा उचितम्' (जैसा उचित हो) वाक्यांश महत्वपूर्ण है; यह बताता है कि वानर समाज में भी पद और मर्यादा के नियम थे। उन्होंने सुग्रीव से भेंट की और फिर 'प्रांजलयः' (हाथ जोड़कर) खड़े हो गए। हाथ जोड़ना भारतीय संस्कृति में विनम्रता और सेवा भाव का प्रतीक है। अब वे सुग्रीव के अगले आदेश की प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं। पूरी सभा अब शांत और एकाग्र होकर राजा की आज्ञा सुनने को तत्पर है।
