येन सर्व गुणोपेताः पृथिव्याम् सर्व पार्थिवाः ।
मानिताः सततम् राज्ञा सदा दशरथेन वै ॥ ॥४-४-२२॥
Yena sarva guṇopetāḥ pṛthivyām sarva pārthivāḥ । Mānitāḥ satatam rājñā sadā daśarathena vai ॥ ॥4-4-22॥
Translation
(He is the son of that) King Dasharatha by whom all the virtuous kings on earth were always and constantly honored.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिन राजा दशरथ ने पृथ्वी के सभी गुणवान राजाओं का सदा निरंतर मान-सम्मान किया था (उन्हीं के ये पुत्र हैं)।
English Commentary
Lakshmana again invokes Dasharatha’s diplomatic history. Dasharatha always 'honored' (mānitāḥ) other kings. Diplomatially, this signals that the Ikshvaku lineage treats allies with dignity, not subjugation. It serves as a subtle assurance to Hanuman that an alliance with Rama will result in respect and honor for Sugriva, just as Dasharatha honored his contemporaries. It lays the groundwork for a relationship based on equality rather than dominance.
हिंदी टीका
लक्ष्मण फिर से दशरथ जी के व्यवहार का उल्लेख करते हैं। दशरथ ने अन्य राजाओं को 'मानिताः' (सम्मानित) किया था। इसका कूटनीतिक अर्थ यह है कि इक्ष्वाकु वंश का इतिहास रहा है कि वे दूसरे राजाओं के साथ मैत्रीपूर्ण और सम्मानजनक व्यवहार करते हैं। यह हनुमान और सुग्रीव के लिए एक आश्वासन (Assurance) है कि यदि वे राम की सहायता करेंगे, तो राम उन्हें अधीन नहीं करेंगे, बल्कि दशरथ की तरह उन्हें सम्मान देंगे। यह भविष्य की मित्रता की शर्तों को अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से तय कर रहा है।
