शोक अभिभूते रामे तु शोक आर्ते शरणम् गते ।
कर्तुम् अर्हति सुग्रीवः प्रसादम् सह यूथपैः ॥ ॥४-४-२४॥
Śoka abhibhūte rāme tu śoka ārte śaraṇam gate । Kartum arhati sugrīvaḥ prasādam saha yūthapaiḥ ॥ ॥4-4-24॥
Translation
Since Rama is overwhelmed by grief and, stricken with sorrow, has sought refuge, Sugriva, along with his troop leaders, ought to extend his favor.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राम शोक से अभिभूत हैं और शोक से पीड़ित होकर शरण में आए हैं। अतः अपने यूथपतियों (सेनानायकों) सहित सुग्रीव को इन पर कृपा करनी चाहिए।
English Commentary
This is the concluding and decisive verse of Lakshmana's appeal. He transforms the plea into a moral imperative, stating Sugriva 'kartum arhati' (ought to do this). Protecting a sorrowful refugee is a fundamental Dharma. By mentioning 'Yūthapaiḥ' (troop leaders), Lakshmana acknowledges that he seeks not just Sugriva, but the collective strength of the Vanara army. It is a direct call to action, placing the ball firmly in Hanuman's court.

यह लक्ष्मण के वक्तव्य का अंतिम और निर्णायक श्लोक है। यहाँ वे याचना को एक नैतिक मांग (Moral demand) में बदल देते हैं। वे कहते हैं कि सुग्रीव को 'कर्तुम् अर्हति' (करना चाहिए)। जब कोई शरणागत हो और शोक में हो, तो उसकी रक्षा करना 'धर्म' है। लक्ष्मण यहाँ सुग्रीव के 'यूथपतियों' (Commanders) का भी उल्लेख करते हैं, जिसका अर्थ है कि वे जानते हैं कि सुग्रीव अकेले नहीं, बल्कि पूरी वानर सेना के साथ सहायता कर सकते हैं। यह हनुमान को निर्णय लेने के लिए प्रेरित करने वाला अंतिम कथन है।
