Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवम् ब्रुवाणम् सौमित्रिम् करुणम् स अश्रु पातनम् ।
हनुमान् प्रति उवाच इदम् वाक्यम् वाक्य विशारदः ॥ ॥४-४-२५॥
Evam bruvāṇam saumitrim karuṇam sa aśru pātanam । Hanumān prati uvāca idam vākyam vākya viśāradaḥ ॥ ॥4-4-25॥
Translation
To Sumitra's son (Lakshmana), who was speaking thus piteously and shedding tears, Hanuman, the expert in speech, replied with these words.

इस प्रकार करुण वचन बोलते हुए और आँखों से आंसू बहाते हुए सुमित्रा नन्दन लक्ष्मण से, वाणी विशारद हनुमान ने यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Lakshmana's stoicism finally breaks. 'Sa aśru pātanam' (shedding tears) indicates that recounting Rama's suffering has moved him to weep. This emotional display profoundly impacts Hanuman. Being a 'Vākya viśārada' (expert in speech/psychology), he recognizes that these tears are genuine. Lakshmana's vulnerability dissolves any remaining suspicion in Hanuman. Authentic grief cannot be feigned. Hanuman now prepares to respond not just as a diplomat, but as an empathetic ally.

लक्ष्मण का धैर्य अब जवाब दे गया है। 'स अश्रु पातनम्' (आंसू बहाते हुए) यह दर्शाता है कि राम के दुख का वर्णन करते-करते वे स्वयं रो पड़े। यह भावनात्मक क्षण हनुमान को गहराई से छू जाता है। हनुमान 'वाक्य विशारद' हैं, वे समझ गए कि यह दुख बनावटी नहीं है। लक्ष्मण के आंसुओं ने हनुमान के मन से बची-खुची शंका भी मिटा दी। सच्चा दुख और सच्चा प्रेम छिपता नहीं है। अब हनुमान एक कूटनीतिज्ञ के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि एक संवेदनशील मित्र के रूप में उत्तर देंगे।
