Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवम् ब्रुवन्तम् धर्मात्मा हनूमन्तम् स लक्ष्मणः ।
प्रतिपूज्य यथा न्यायम् इदम् प्रोवाच राघवम् ॥ ॥४-४-३०॥
Evam bruvantam dharmātmā hanūmantam sa lakṣmaṇaḥ । Pratipūjya yathā nyāyam idam provāca rāghavam ॥ ॥4-4-30॥
Translation
Lakshmana, the righteous soul, having honored Hanuman who spoke thus, in accordance with propriety, spoke these words to Raghava.
हिंदी अनुवाद
इस प्रकार बोलते हुए धर्मात्मा हनुमान का यथान्याय (उचित रीति से) पूजन (सम्मान) करके, लक्ष्मण ने राघव (राम) से यह बात कही।
English Commentary
This concludes Sarga 4. Lakshmana accepts Hanuman's proposal, but with due process ('yathā nyāyam pratipūjya' - honoring him according to protocol). He then turns to Rama. Lakshmana never finalizes a decision without Rama's consent. Even though Hanuman said "Let's go" and Lakshmana agrees, the final seal of approval must come from the King/leader, Rama. This verse perfectly encapsulates the discipline and hierarchy maintained by Lakshmana even in the forest.

यह सर्ग 4 का समापन है। लक्ष्मण हनुमान के प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार करते हैं, लेकिन 'यथा न्यायम् प्रतिपूज्य' (मर्यादा अनुसार सम्मान करके)। अर्थात, उन्होंने हनुमान की बातों का आदर किया। फिर वे राम की ओर मुड़ते हैं। लक्ष्मण कभी भी राम की अनुमति के बिना अंतिम निर्णय नहीं लेते। यद्यपि हनुमान ने "चलिए" कहा है, और लक्ष्मण सहमत हैं, फिर भी 'प्रोटोकॉल' के अनुसार अंतिम मोहर राम की लगनी चाहिए। यह श्लोक अनुशासन और शिष्टाचार का अद्भुत उदाहरण है।
