Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ख्यात कर्म अपदानाः च बलवन्तो जित क्लमाः ।
पराक्रमेषु विख्याता व्यवसायेषु च उत्तमाः ॥ ॥४-४०-४॥
khyāta karma apadānāḥ ca balavanto jita klamāḥ । parākrameṣu vikhyātā vyavasāyeṣu ca uttamāḥ ॥ ॥4-40-4॥
Translation
"They are famous for their past deeds and achievements. They are strong, have conquered fatigue, are renowned for their valor, and are excellent in business (enterprise/effort)."

"ये सभी अपने कर्मों और अवदानों (उपलब्धियों) के लिए विख्यात हैं। ये बलवान हैं, थकान को जीतने वाले (जित क्लमाः) हैं, पराक्रम में प्रसिद्ध हैं और अपने कार्यों (उद्योग) में उत्तम हैं।"
English Commentary
Sugriva continues his "sales pitch." He emphasizes their resume: Khyata karma (famous deeds). He highlights their endurance: Jita klamah (those who have conquered fatigue/tireless). He also praises their work ethic: Vyavasayeshu uttamah (excellent in exertion/enterprise). This suggests that the Vanaras are not just brutes, but disciplined and persistent workers—qualities that will be tested when they have to scour the earth for Sita and build a bridge across the ocean.

यह श्लोक सैनिकों की गुणवत्ता (Quality) का वर्णन करता है। 'जित क्लमाः' (जिन्होंने थकान को जीत लिया है) एक सैनिक के लिए सबसे बड़ा गुण है—सहनशक्ति (Endurance)। 'व्यवसायेषु च उत्तमाः' का अर्थ है कि वे किसी भी कार्य को पूरा करने में कुशल और मेहनती हैं; वे केवल लड़ना नहीं जानते, बल्कि कार्य-सिद्धि (Mission accomplishment) में भी निपुण हैं। सुग्रीव यह बता रहे हैं कि यह सेना अनुभवी (Battle-hardened) है, नौसिखिया नहीं।
