गत्वा द्रक्ष्यथ दुर्धर्षा मुक्ता हारम् इव ऊर्मिभिः ।
तस्य मध्य में महा श्वेतो ऋषभो नाम पर्वतः ॥ ॥४-४०-४४॥
Gatvā drakṣyatha durdharṣā muktā hāram iva ūrmibhiḥ । Tasya madhye mahā śveto ṛṣabho nāma parvataḥ ॥ ॥4-40-44॥
Translation
O invincible Vanaras, having gone there, you shall behold that ocean whose waves resemble pearl necklaces. In the midst of that ocean stands a massive white mountain named Rishabha.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे दुर्धर्ष वानरों! वहाँ जाकर तुम उस सागर को देखोगे जिसकी लहरें मोतियों के हार के समान प्रतीत होती हैं। उस सागर के मध्य में 'ऋषभ' नाम का एक विशाल श्वेत पर्वत स्थित है।
English Commentary
The visual imagery here is exquisite. The white waves of the Ocean of Milk are compared to a 'necklace of pearls' (mukta haram), suggesting both whiteness and precious value. Sugriva directs them to the Rishabha mountain situated within this ocean. The specific mention of the mountain being 'Maha Shweta' (Great White) suggests it blends with its surroundings yet stands out due to its majesty. This creates a landscape of total purity and whiteness, representing a higher plane of existence that the Vanaras must traverse in their search for Sita.

सुग्रीव यहाँ क्षीर सागर के सौंदर्य का अत्यंत मनोहर चित्रण कर रहे हैं। दूध के सागर में उठने वाली सफेद लहरें जब तट या एक-दूसरे से टकराती हैं, तो वे मोतियों की माला जैसी दिखती हैं। 'ऋषभ' पर्वत का उल्लेख महत्वपूर्ण है; 'ऋषभ' का अर्थ 'श्रेष्ठ' या 'बैल' होता है, जो शक्ति और धर्म का प्रतीक है। यह श्वेत पर्वत क्षीर सागर की श्वेत आभा में विलीन होते हुए भी अपनी विशालता के कारण विशिष्ट दिखाई देता है। यह स्थान सांसारिक कोलाहल से दूर, शांत और दिव्य है।
