त इमे बहु साहस्रैः अनेकैः बहु विक्रमैः ।
आगता वानरा घोरा दैत्य दानव संनिभाः ॥ ॥४-४०-७॥
ta ime bahu sāhasraiḥ anekaiḥ bahu vikramaiḥ |
āgatā vānarā ghorā daitya dānava saṃnibhāḥ ॥4-40-7॥
Translation
These fearful Vanaras, resembling Daityas and Danavas (demons and giants) in appearance, possessing varied types of valor, have arrived here in many thousands.

अनेक प्रकार के पराक्रम वाले, दैत्य और दानवों के समान भयानक, ये वानर कई हजार (विशाल) संख्याओं में यहाँ आए हैं।
English Commentary
This verse emphasizes the sheer power and intimidating appearance of the Vanara army. Sugriva uses the simile daitya dānava saṃnibhāḥ, meaning they resemble mythological demons and giants in size and strength. This comparison is strategic; since they are to fight Ravana’s demon army, Sugriva assures Rama that his troops are physically equal to the task. They are described as 'ghora' (fierce or fearful), indicating that they possess the martial ferocity required for the upcoming great war.
