यत् मन्यसे नरव्याघ्र प्राप्त कालम् तत् उच्यताम् ।
तत् सैन्यम् त्वत् वशे युक्तम् आज्ञापयितुम् अर्हसि ॥ ॥४-४०-८॥
yat manyase naravyāghra prāpta kālam tat ucyatām |
tat sainyam tvat vaśe yuktam ājñāpayitum arhasi ॥4-40-8॥
Translation
O Tiger among men, please state whatever you consider timely and appropriate. This army is under your control; you are fit to command it.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे नरव्याघ्र (पुरुषों में श्रेष्ठ)! आप जो भी इस समय उचित समझते हैं, वह बताएं। यह सेना आपके अधीन है, आप इसे आज्ञा देने के योग्य हैं।
English Commentary
Sugriva displays immense humility and true friendship here. Although he is the King of the Vanaras, he addresses Rama as Naravyaghra (Tiger among men), according him supreme respect. By stating the army is "under your control" (tvat vaśe), he explicitly delegates authority. Sugriva is not merely offering help; he is acknowledging Rama as the true commander of the mission. This reflects the dharma of an ally who sets aside ego to empower the leader of the cause.

सुग्रीव यहाँ अत्यंत विनम्रता और मित्रता का परिचय दे रहे हैं। यद्यपि वे वानरों के राजा हैं, किन्तु वे राम को 'नरव्याघ्र' संबोधित कर सर्वोच्च सम्मान दे रहे हैं। वे अपनी पूरी सेना का नियंत्रण राम के हाथों में सौंप रहे हैं ('त्वत् वशे युक्तम्')। यह श्लोक यह दर्शाता है कि सुग्रीव केवल सहायता नहीं कर रहे, बल्कि राम को ही इस अभियान का वास्तविक स्वामी मान रहे हैं। यह एक सच्चे मित्र और सहयोगी का लक्षण है जो अहंकार त्याग कर नेतृत्व सौंप देता है।
