कामम् एषाम् इदम् कार्यम् विदितम् मम तत्त्वतः ।
तथा अपि तु यथा युक्तम् आज्ञापयितुम् अर्हसि ॥ ॥४-४०-९॥
kāmam eṣām idam kāryam viditam mama tattvataḥ |
tathā api tu yathā yuktam ājñāpayitum arhasi ॥4-40-9॥
Translation
Although I know their task in reality (exactly what needs to be done), even so, it is appropriate that you alone issue the command.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यद्यपि मुझे इनके कार्य (सीता की खोज) का यथार्थ ज्ञान है, तथापि जैसा उचित हो, आप ही आज्ञा प्रदान करें।
English Commentary
Sugriva observes diplomatic protocol here. He is fully aware that the mission is to find Sita, yet he insists that the command come from Rama. This serves a dual purpose: it reinforces Rama's authority and infuses the mission with emotional weight for the soldiers, hearing it directly from the one seeking his wife. Sugriva is essentially saying, "I know the strategy, but your voice provides the legitimacy and inspiration required for this monumental task."

सुग्रीव कूटनीतिक शिष्टाचार का पालन कर रहे हैं। वे जानते हैं कि मुख्य कार्य सीता जी की खोज है, परन्तु वे चाहते हैं कि आदेश राम के मुख से निकले। इससे सैनिकों के मन में कार्य के प्रति गंभीरता और भावनात्मक जुड़ाव बढ़ेगा। साथ ही, यह राम की संप्रभुता का सम्मान है। सुग्रीव यह संदेश दे रहे हैं कि "मैं जानता हूँ क्या करना है, लेकिन आपकी आज्ञा से इस कार्य को वैधता और प्रेरणा मिलेगी।"
