तथा वन्गान् कलिन्गाम् च कौशिकान् च समंततः ।
अन्वीक्ष्य दण्डक अरण्यम् स पर्वत नदी गुहम् ॥ ॥४-४१-११॥
tathā vangān kalingām ca kauśikān ca samantataḥ |
anvīkṣya daṇḍaka araṇyam sa parvata nadī guham ॥4-41-11॥
Translation
Similarly, having searched everywhere in the kingdoms of Vanga, Kalinga, and Kaushika, you must explore the Dandaka forest with its mountains, rivers, and caves.

उसी प्रकार वंग, कलिंग और कौशिक देशों में सब ओर ढूँढकर, पर्वतों, नदियों और गुफाओं सहित पूरे दंडकारण्य की खोज करना।
English Commentary
Sugriva extends the search perimeter to the eastern seaboard with Vanga (Bengal) and Kalinga (Odisha), covering the breadth of the land before pushing deeper south. However, the crucial instruction here represents a strategic loop-back to the Dandaka Forest. Since Sita was abducted from this very forest, Sugriva wisely reasons that she might still be hidden within its vast, labyrinthine wilderness rather than taken far away. He explicitly orders a search of its "mountains, rivers, and caves," understanding that Dandakaranya is treacherous and full of natural hiding spots. It prioritizes thoroughness over assumption.

यहाँ सुग्रीव पूर्व दिशा के राज्यों (वंग - बंगाल, कलिंग - ओडिशा) का भी उल्लेख करते हैं, जो दक्षिण की ओर जाने वाले मार्ग के विस्तार को दर्शाता है। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण निर्देश 'दंडकारण्य' के लिए है। चूँकि सीता का हरण दंडकारण्य के जनस्थान क्षेत्र से ही हुआ था, इसलिए सुग्रीव को आशंका है कि रावण शायद उन्हें उसी विशाल वन में किसी गुप्त गुफा या पर्वत कंदरा में छिपा सकता है। इसलिए वे दंडकारण्य के हर पर्वत, नदी और गुफा को छान मारने का आदेश देते हैं। यह रणनीति 'अपराध स्थल' (Crime Scene) के आसपास के व्यापक क्षेत्र की पुनः जाँच जैसी है।
