Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
देव ऋषि यक्ष प्रवरैः अप्सरोभिः च सेवितम् ।
सिद्ध चारण संघैः च प्रकीर्णम् सुमनोहरम् ॥ ॥४-४१-२२॥
deva ṛṣi yakṣa pravaraiḥ apsarobhiḥ ca sevitam |
siddha cāraṇa saṅghaiḥ ca prakīrṇam sumanoharam ॥4-41-22॥
Translation
That very enchanting mountain is visited by Devas, Rishis, leading Yakshas, and Apsaras. It is also crowded with hosts of Siddhas and Charanas.

वह अत्यंत मनोहर पर्वत देवताओं, ऋषियों, यक्ष-श्रेष्ठों और अप्सराओं द्वारा सेवित है तथा सिद्धों और चारणों के समूहों से व्याप्त है।
English Commentary
This verse confirms that Mount Mahendra is a sanctuary of high spiritual vibration. It is frequented by various classes of celestial beings—Devas, Rishis, Yakshas, and Apsaras. The presence of Siddhas and Charanas (celestial bards/ascetics) implies that the mountain is a bridge between the earthly and the divine. For the Vanaras, this is crucial intelligence: the terrain is inhabited by benevolent forces, making it a safe forward base compared to the Rakshasa-infested territories they are about to enter.

यह श्लोक महेन्द्र पर्वत की पवित्रता को स्थापित करता है। यह कोई वीरान टापू नहीं है, बल्कि एक आध्यात्मिक केंद्र है जहाँ उच्च कोटि की दिव्य आत्माएं (सिद्ध, चारण, ऋषि) निवास करती हैं। सीता की खोज में ऐसे स्थान का मिलना शुभ संकेत है। यह भी दर्शाता है कि यहाँ वानरों को मार्गदर्शन या सहायता मिल सकती है। सुग्रीव अपने सैनिकों को आश्वस्त कर रहे हैं कि वे एक ऐसे क्षेत्र में जा रहे हैं जो 'सुमनोहरम्' (मन को हरने वाला) और पवित्र है, न कि केवल भयावह।
