स हि देशः तु वध्यस्य रावणस्य दुरात्मनः ।
राक्षस अधिपतेः वासः सहस्राक्ष समद्युतेः ॥ ॥४-४१-२५॥
sa hi deśaḥ tu vadhyasya rāvaṇasya durātmanaḥ |
rākṣasa adhipateḥ vāsaḥ sahasrākṣa samadyuteḥ ॥4-41-25॥
Translation
Indeed, that is the country of the evil-minded Ravana, who deserves to be killed. It is the abode of the Lord of Rakshasas, whose splendor equals that of Indra.

निश्चित ही वह देश वध के योग्य दुरात्मा रावण का है। वह राक्षसों का राजा है और उसका तेज इंद्र (सहस्राक्ष) के समान है।
English Commentary
Sugriva confirms the identity of the enemy. The island is the stronghold of Ravana. He paints a complex picture of the antagonist: morally, he is a 'Duratman' (evil-souled) and 'Vadhya' (deserving of death), but physically and politically, he is 'Rakshasa Adhipati' (King of Demons) and possesses splendor equal to Indra's. This is a crucial briefing for the soldiers—do not underestimate the enemy based on his immorality; his power and radiance are god-like, making the mission dangerous.
